The second session of the OECD Skills Summit 2026 was held under the co-chairmanship of Mr. Güneş, Director General of İŞKUR and Mr. Pearson, Acting Director of ELSAC
The second session of the OECD 2026 Skills Summit, which was opened at the İstanbul Haliç Congress Centre in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and with the participation of Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Labour and Social Security was co-chaired by Samet Güneş, Director General of Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), and Mark Pearson, Acting Director of ELSAC.
During the session, effective strategies aimed at ensuring all adults have access to accessible upskilling and reskilling opportunities compatible with the labour market were discussed. Additionally, the session addressed how to enhance intergenerational learning in workplace, and how to strengthen collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mentoring between young and experienced employees. Thus, the objective was to create a more productive labour force by leveraging the strengths of different generations.
As part of the OECD Skills Summit 2026, which brought together approximately 300 representatives from 57 countries and international organisations, İŞKUR, as the host, introduced its services and activities at its booth. As part of the programme, Mr. Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Labour and Social Security, and Mr. Samet Güneş, Director General of İŞKUR, visited İŞKUR booth and received information about ongoing activities.
